O camera cu un
singur dormitor la hotelul Four Seasons
costa, pe noapte, 4.450 dolari in New
York, fata de 1029 dolari pe noapte, in Hong Kong. Un kilogram de caviar Petrossian are un pret de 11.750
dolari in Paris. Acelasi tip de caviar se gaseste in Dubai si poate fi cumparat
contra unui pret de 16.500 dolari.
Totusi, pentru
a intocmi acest clasament, redactia Forbes nu a luat in considerare bunurile cu
un pret constant. Spre exemplu, parintii care vor sa isi trimita copilul la Harvard, trebuie sa pregateasca 47.215
dolari anual, suma care nu se modifica. Sau avionul Learjet 40XR care poate fi achizitionat pentru 9.2 milioane
USD.
Moscova a fost cea mai scumpa capitala dintre cele 8
studiate. Un sejur la hotel costa cu pana la 40% mai mult decat in Londra, iar
magazinele care importa bunuri din piele, cum ar fi gentile Vuitton, prin
taxele si comisioanele aplicate, reusesc sa mareasca preturile atat de mult,
incat sunt mai scumpe chiar decat in Dubai.
Poate
surprinzator, dar New York-ul nu se
potriveste pe lista, intrucat toate produsele trebuie importate, iar
dolarul american a avut o evolutie mediocra in ultimii cativa ani, accentuata
de contextul crizei financiare.
Conform
revistei americane, Paris ofera cele mai
bune conditii de trai. Aici bunurile de lux pot fi achizitionate cu preturi
minime.
Din 1976,
indicele "Cost of Living Extremely Well" s-a majorat cu 12 procente pe an, fata
de inflatie, care a crescut cu 6%, potrivit datelor Forbes. Aceasta rata de
crestere nu a fost oprita de problemele economice de la sfarsitul anilor '70,
de criza "savings&loan" sau de prabusirea "dot-com" din 2001..
Cu toate ca
apetitul consumatorilor pentru produsele de lux este in continua crestere, iar acest
public are si suportul financiar necesar, pare greu de crezut ca numarul
bunurilor extravagante, (masinile extrem de scumpe, ca Rolls-Royce Phantom sau
Bugatti Veyron) se va modifica in perioada imediat urmatoare.
